Wennington
A great place to live, a great place to visit
Wennington is a small rural village situated in the Lune Valley approximately 12 miles north east of the city of Lancaster. The village comprises 54 houses and a resident population of a little over 100. Wennington does not have a village hall, church or any public houses. Wennington railway station, lies just outside the parish boundary, with direct services to Morecambe and Leeds. The River Wenning runs east/west along the southern boundary and the village has many natural environmental assets including wildlife sites and ancient woodlands. Wennington, at its south eastern boundary, borders the Forest of Bowland AONB. The Yorkshire Dales National Park is 5 miles to the east of Wennington and the Lake District National Park 17 miles to the north west. Built heritage assets include a conservation area and 9 listed buildings including Wennington Hall. Most buildings are constructed of traditional local materials, and the village has a distinctive and very attractive rural character typical of the Lune Valley area of Lancashire.
